Research Gate as social media platform for researchers doesn’t have an academic publishing functionality with peer-reviewed articles. Researches on this platform could be vetted to function as editors and reviewers for papers.
Now you can upload all your work here -published and unpublished- and members are spending a lot of their time here communicating, while they could use part of that time to work together and produce scientific papers.
And which functionalities should be added to make RG better?

's answer, I think that this is challenging issue, as RG designed to a social media platform for researchers not a publisher. However, to add this function to RG it supposed to designed like other peer-reviewed journals.

Has RG answered your question, otherwise it is good to put it forward again.
If articles are officially published e.g. as an open access publication on this platform, then the problem of theft is solved. And I think that with adding an open access functionality for academic publising RG would get added value. Those who are here already on the platform would publish part of their work here in stead going somewhere else.
What is the problem for RG?
Just getting it published simply by uploading in RG system means publishing with any review. Is it good to us? I think no!!
@ Hi Avishag Gordon, with academic funtionality, I mean the facility for peer-reviewed publications. Just like in the normal process with editors and peers all the way. Now you can just upload every thing. See e.g.

I think that RG is excellent as a social media platform. The ability to preview an article gives researchers a chance to let peers look at the information and comment on it. That allows for refinement of the research which I think is valuable. But, what do I know, I haven't published a paper?
