I tried to use strain-hardening rule in ABAQUS to simulate multi-loading-step soil creep of Isotropic consolidation. The problem I found was that the creep strain from strain-hardening rule was very different to creep strain from time-hardening rule and the experiments. I guesed that the reason might be that there is no initial creep strain so that the integration in strain-hardening rule was with some problems.

Since I could not find any way to define initial creep strain or changing material model in different steps, I tried to seperate the simulation with two model. One is confining stage using time-hardening rule, and the other one is several loading and creeping stages using strain-hardening rule. I tried to use "initial-state" in "prdefined-field" to restart from result of confining stage. However, in the beginning of the loading steps, although the stress, elastic strain, and plastic strain are all the same with the result of confining stage, the creep strain is 0 instead of the result of confining stage.

Is there any methods I can try to simulate the creep using strain-hardening rule?
