I am analyzing different responses of farmers gathered from surveys in dairy farms. First set of likert scale data is of sources of risk and other set is of risk management responses.
Depending on your samples size, It would be better to capture the data using Microsoft Excel. To make the analysis easier, it would be preferable to assign a numerical coding to all text based likert scales, i.e. 1 poor, 2 adequate, etc. The Excel file can then be imported in Stata for analysis.
What is the preferred way to enter likert scale data? Should i enter the data for every single farmer in rows? Like, farm size, production, income, and then all the likert scale responses (2,3,1,2,7,4,.......) Or it should be in columns?
Does it matter in STATA? I mean will it be convenient or there no difference in either way?
Since Stata interprets every row of a dataset as an observation (in your case a farmer) and every column as a variable. Therefore every piece of information should be in one column inside the excel table.
Hey! is there any one with the experience in likert scale using Stata? I have a survey data on feedback of the community on technology demonstration. The target is to measure their knowledge on the the demonstrated technologies.
