To answer this question about the boundary treatment in FEM modeling, I highly recommended a book called: groundwater modelling by the finite element method, written by Jonathan Istok. Since the boundary conditions are likely to be more complex in groundwater problem, this book is a very good option to learn fundamental skills of FEM to solve real-world problems (especially geo-fluid problem).
