How to treat edges in VCCT finite element analysis of DCB specimen?

I want to determine energy release rate distribution along the initial straight front of a DCB specimen, using VCCT.

I understand that, to do that, for each node I have to use the area competing to that same node. When treating the two nodes at the edges of the specimen, I would say the area is half what it it elsewhere. Is that right?

Do I have to use half the area for those two nodes?
