i tried to change the temperature and the reactif's quantity, and even i tried to use two kind of base K2CO3 and then Triethylamine but i always have a low yield, in the better case i had 25%.
If you want to produce N-propyl pyridone in a good yeild 80%, you must be use NaH sodium hydride or NaOH sodium hydroxide equavelent as catalyst and put the reaction stirring overnight. You can use excess K2CO3 and stirred the reaction 3hrs. then put the reaction at 80* C overnight.
Thank you se much for the answers, our lab don't dispose on NaH, and i did not get anything with NaOH, so i am going to try with an excess of K2CO3 and 1,2 equivalent of dibromopropan.
