In Ansys Workbench there is an option in Mesh Edit-- -> Node move. Then you could manually move the node on the surface.

I'm using some outputs from ansys (mass matrix, nodes positions, natural frequencies and modes of vibration) as an input to a flexibile multibody software. It happens that i need to have nodes in specific positions to define joints in the multibody software.

I've been using the NMODIF function, which works for certain cases. However, it requires having a sufficient fine mesh, otherwise the modal analysis can't run (because of elements with negative jacobian values). Also, even when the modal analysis can run, there is a considerable change in the natural frequencies when compared to the case with the nodes in the original positions... probably because elements are distorted...

I think, ideally, forcing the mesher to create the nodes in the desired positions (by doing it prior to the mesh being created) would be the best solution. However, i've not been able to find out how to do it in the workbench... The other solutions you propose seem feasible, however i feel they are also not ideal, and there should be a simple way to do it, no?

I've just tried the remote point method but i think it won't solve my problem. The mesher creates a node in the coordinate of the remote point and the mode shapes for this node are available, which is good, however, when looking at the mass matrix, this node does not appear. I can´t understand very well why this happens... But since the multibody code requires the mass matrix (regarding all nodes) i think it can be a issue.

Regarding the other possible solutions, i think the 'node move' will, as you say, have the same limitations as NMODIF. I've also already considered creating geometry features at the points where i require the nodes, but since i was hoping to find a "better" solution i didn't do it yet. Maybe i should start considering it now.
