Hi, I am working on topology optimization. Now, I want to minimize the pressure drop in the pink domain (Fig1). I also need to control the flow by using flow equality (Fig2). I have tried to cut the domain to make an inlet boundary, and I used the mass flow inlet boundary. When I specified inlet flow rate (Vin) as same as suggested in the paper" Experimental and numerical investigation of liquid-cooled heat sinks designed by topology optimization", the result was not the same.
Anyone know, please kindly help.
That depends how off your results are.
The results will not be the same, as it depends upon several factors like your mesh density, type of numerical solver and flux splitting schemes etc.
If it is in the ball park range then it means your simulation is correct, otherwise you maybe missing something, and doing something differently from the paper your are following.
It is actually not set at the boundary. It can be constructed by line segment, then set as the constraints.
