I am new to Abaqus. I simulate the graphene strain in different pressure. But I face the problem " too many attempts for this increment". I have tried discontinue time increment in general solver, but the problem continues.
The model shown below is in "mm-tone-N" scale. The shell is graphene and its thickness is 0.34nm. The solid behind the shell is mold, which has four extrudes. I use "static, general" solver. (By the way, I defined the graphene thickness in 0.34µm before and it didn't show this error)

Your analysis has decreased to a step increment 1e-35 (which you probably set manually since Abaqus does not usually go down this far). Your problem is not well posed therefore time increment to find a solution is smaller than 1e-35. Decreasing the size will not solve your problem. You have to revise the way you set it up.

As far as I understand your problem from the Figures, I believe you have at least two problems. One which is related to the fact that you have 2 regions that you are connecting together I believe, either with TIE nodes or interaction contact. The other one is probably related to stress/strain concentration problems due to corners and boundary conditions.
Material properties, boundary conditions and mesh size have of course an influence on these, but all should be set to facilitate numerical convergence.

Kai did you try reducing the time increment in the step?

Yes, I have tried reducing the initial increment as 0.0001 and minimum increment as 1E-11, and it still didn't work. I think Daniel is right about it. The main problem is the stress/ strain concentration. The error disappears when I lower the pressure 100000 times. Therefore I am discovering the possible solution to non convergence.
