I'm modeling 2D melting and solidification of a phase change material in a plate heat exchanger using Ansys fluent. I defined the model. But I have problems to complete the solution. The first how solve the flow and connect it with PCM.
In these types of simulations, FLUENT is really annoying. I suggest you Comsol Multiphysics software. It has some ready files about phase change phenomenon.
It's quite straight forward. Once you have your geometry sorted out you just have to enable the melting and solidification model in FLUENT.
You then enter the appropriate material properties of the PCM in the materials panel. (I would advise that you assign the same values for liquidus and solidus temperatures, as this can sometimes cause convergence problems when dealing with complex 3d geometries).

I need to simulate the melting process of the 3d cylinder in Ansys Fluent. I was able to simulate the melting process for one cylinder. For this, I used the Adapt-Region-Mark function. How can one obtain a simulation of the melting process for a cylinder that has a shell that consists of another material. Ultimately, I must show how the cylinder melts its shell during the melting process.
I want to simulate phase change in a rectangular ingot of an aluminium alloy. I used the solidification and melting model with Mush parameter around 1e4. I tried to refine the mesh several times and to change the elements to tetrahedral also. The model does not converge even after 500 iterations. Could you please advice me ?
