Hi every one

I have a model in Abaqus standard with Heat transfer. When I restart this model , Abaqus exit with this error:

"An attempt to open the file E:\Temp \Job-recovery.mdl has failed."

How I can fix this error?

I am also struggling with this issue. I run my job on a cluster with multiple cpus. The first step ends normally and I wanted to restart my analysis with the second step. Then my abaqus job got aborted with " MPI Application rank 21 killed before MPI_Finalize() with signal 6 ".

I tried to look into the documentation and all the online resource I could find, but there was no answer to this. Here are some of my experience and guesses:

1. It might be due to one domain of the job did not end perfectly. Although with completed results, the domain might not come to the "end" of the analysis.

2. Your domain allocation is not favorable to Abaqus. I used to run my job with 78 cpus, and this error appeared. Then I switch to using 64 cpus, this error did not appear. When you are running parallel computing on a cluster, it is an experience that the server likes the domain number to be 2^k (4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128)

3. You can just write two of your steps into one *.inp file and run all the way to the end. If the job crashes somewhere in the middle of step 2, then you can restart from the end of step 1.

4. Try *import analysis, it is more free then restart. But it might be more cumbersome since features such as contact definition and user element cannot be imported.
