In ABAQUS, I'm trying to simulate LBM of CFRP laminates. Though, ABAQUS provides a clear idea on how to model CFRP plies( having the properties of both carbon fiber and epoxy) and assembling them, I want to create a heterogeneous mesh, showing both the fiber and resin in a periosical array fashio. In addition to this, I would like to analyze the thermal behavior of the material while getting exposed tot he thermal heat input. Effect of fiber orientation, effect of beam spot diameter and the extent of HAZ needs to be analysed. Please help
Dear Jagadeesh Baskaran, your modelling of composite under LBM seemed as an useful and promising. But I fear that direct FEM simulation of microheterogeneous material (fiber composite) is a very costly procedure from point of view of computational resources. Step by step method is more effective. First of all, you must determine the temperature field on the surface of laminate due to laser beam acting and calculate temperature distribution in material as quasi-homogenious media by averaging of thermomechanical characteristics of fiber and resin. After this one can analyse thermomechanical behaviour of composite in local zones with taking into account their composite structure.

Dear Jagadeesh, I don't specialize in lazer ablation processes simulation, but because of multi-level modeling is seemed as a very universal and effective methodology, please, see the books and papers devoted to multi-level mechanical modeling of composites.
