How to simulate a flow before and after a mechanical device?

Through a single stream of flow we have a device like pump or turbine and we want to analyze the flow before and after the device. Can we do that by using ANSYS when the device is only considered as a region where jump of pressure or drop of pressure existing?

If you are using a physics based model for that mechanical device to identify the drop of pressure or jump in the pressure, then you definitely can use such an approach to model/simulate the flow as you suggested.
