You'll have to be a bit more specific. For sugars, which are very polar, we use silica gel 60 plates eluted with acetonitrile-water systems. Typically 70% to 95% v/v acetonitrile works very well for us.

You can use several different solvents in polarity such as methanol, water and acetone .... etc. But select the solvent systems and ratios of these solvents depends on the experience by separation efficiency and the value of Rf
