You'll have to be a bit more specific.  For sugars, which are very polar, we use silica gel 60 plates eluted with acetonitrile-water systems.  Typically 70% to 95% v/v acetonitrile works very well for us.

 to have a preliminary idea plz read the following attachment. chemical compound nature understanding is more imp. to establish the solvent system. use non polar to medium polar solvents initially keeping at 1:1 ratio, gradually increase the medium polar solvent  till the Rf value u get between 0.5 to 0.9

You can use several different solvents in polarity such as methanol, water and acetone .... etc. But select the solvent systems and ratios of these solvents depends on the experience by separation efficiency and the value of Rf

use reverse phase TLC plates and MeOH/H2O system
