The most useful is Chicken eggshells try to collect from local restaurants in your area. The membranes must separate from the eggshells try to do that by hand. The eggshells then washed with distilled water, air-dried, ground
into powder with particle sizes of 100 µm and finally dry at 105 oC in an oven for 2 h. Now its the best low cost adsorbent to remove color by adsorption base technology.
If it is for experiment.. Use Fungi..phanerochaete chrysosporium - very commonly available or a mixed culture. works on color adsorption and very low cost.
Remove of colour from textile effluents can be done by preparing acivated carbon from readily available biomass either by chemical activation or mechanical. A good example is Luffa cylindrica (see the abstract).
If you think the color removal by biosorbents, you should investigate removal of organic matter with activated carbon from aqueous solution in detail. Because source of the color of the water are dissolved organics and can easily be removed by adsorption in the textile wastewater. And you can use low cost adsorbent as carbonised products by pyrolysis of the agricultural and domestic wastes.
You can use adsorption by different adsorbent as activated carbon, waste biomass, clays, zolithe or polymeric resins. The application can be done in both batch and column fixed bed.

An excellent biomaterial provides from Luffa Cylindrica fibers, of which referencing a wide variety of research reports about removal of various contaminants, including effluents with dyes, heavy metals, and various other organic compounds. Currently I investigate the fiber, in the removal of pesticides dissolved in water and other strippage toxic minerals dissolved in the waters of volcanic origin. Remove of colour from textile effluents can be done by sugar cane bagasse (SCB) in natural state. We made researches with SCB with good results. Studies at pilot plant scale were succesfully.
Remove of color from effluent of textile by the activated carbon is costly, so use of bio material like Hydrilla Verticillata as biosorbent for low cost.
There is a vast literature available on this. However you can use easily available low cost bio-adsorbents that can be effortlessly prepared from any biological waste. Modification by simply chemical alteration can also be done on these bio-sorbents for better colour removal.
Convert this low cost material to activated carbon then use it as required optimizer your experiment and run it accordingly

Do you heard about "biochar"..! Biochar is currently identified as low cost sorbent, which have the property of adsorption because of its high surface area and active sites present on their surface.
Please try to search on google for it. You definitely got some adsorbent for your application.
