We usually grow P.g and other anaerobes on agar plates and then scrap and suspend them into broth to obtain working suspensions. However, Pg is always very clumpy, and it is difficult to obtain good suspensions of that bacterium, even if vortexing. Does any one that works with Pg as well have a solution to obtain better suspensions?

Add 0.01% tween 20 (v/v) to the broth. This a soft detergent; will not kill the cell but inhibit cell aggregation.
