I am assessing the level of heavy metals in plant samples through acid digestion method. After acid digestion, samples were filtered through What man # 42 as reported in various literature. But for heavy metal analysis while filtering through filter paper there is a chance of adsorption of heavy metals by cellulose content of filter paper. How can I reduce this adsorption of heavy metals? Needs help in this regards.....

You reduce the risk of adsorption by keeping all heavy metals of interest in solution. For most metals, this is ok at acidic conditions. For some metals, like Cr(VI), Mo, As, W, the acid digestion is anyway a bad procedure and they will also adsorb at cellulose in acidic conditions. You can always check the recovery of your acid digestion and filtering procedure by adding known amounts of the metals of interest and checking if you get out 100% of the metal after the procedure. I highly recommend recovery tests for all metals of interest when using filters.
