Recently installed the scilab 6.0.0 for windows. but couldn't even read an image! it gives the following error
SWIG/Scilab: RuntimeError: the module is not initialized
can someone help resolving this error, please?
I have already loaded the IPCV toolbox from imageprocessing module and the autoload option is checked
Follow two steps:
1) Load SIVP: atomsInstall("SIVP")
2) Use function imread(path) to load image.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I have loaded all necessary toolboxes / modules but still getting the error! I am using Windows 7 and downloaded scilab6.0.0 64 bit from the following link. http://www.scilab.org/en/download/latest Installed Then from applications/ atom modules loaded all modules available under image processing , signal processing tool boxes. Restated the system as per instruction But still getting the error! Can u pkz suggest if any advance version of modules to be added from any other sources? Thanks and regards

When you install, you need to use the admin mode. Maybe you missed something. I recommend you remove all scilab, restart windows and reinstall it again. Install scilab: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Uc2sv6eRdw (right click and choose run as admin). Install toolboxes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGi7E54Jhng I hope this helpful!

@ Manish Kumar : yeah, it's correct..there was some problem in my installation procedure so I was getting the error.
I feel Scilab is not as sophisticated as MATLAB.. what's your view? Is there a Scilab forum to assist the programmers like the MATHWORK? I am a beginner in scilab and like MATLAB here the help is not working!
Since you are using Windows 7 use scilab5.5.2 version. Its a stable version.
Install SIVP atom from console window-modules-atoms. Select image processing and select SIVP. Install it. Restart Scilab not the system. It will work.

Yes, I installed 5.5.2 ..Initially I was trying 6.0.0 and that's why getting the error (because of incompatible the SIVP) . Now that problem is solved.
