I am working on analysis of wear of brake parts due to vibrations. I have given an harmonic excitation (sine wave with a known frequency -65 Hz and amplitude) to a part and then measured vibrations at locations of wear and i get a graph(acceleration vs time ) like shown below.
what can i say from the graph below and how to explain the graph..? How to proceed further with the graph..?
I have also done modal analysis in ANSYS for the brake to get eigen frequencies. These values starts from 120 Hz.
I want to understand why graph is like that, why different peaks , why amplitude is not stationary..?
The acceleration history itself is not that useful. What you need to understand (and evaluate) is the result of the vibrations in your structure, i.e., determine the stress and strain histories at the region(s) where failures are expected. Accelerations don't break mechanical components. Strains do.
