I'm trying to quantify the micronucleus index in bi nucleated cells, but can't find a way to distinguish between mono, bi and multi nucleated cells. Is there any pluggin?
Are you scoring manually and finding it hard? In that case, first you can do supervised scoring manually, the paper by Fenech is useful with figures etc. @Melissa has a good suggestion, but automation can be used when there is heavy workload and user is clear about possible false positive and false negative readings, it will not teach, and it should not! Take a human help first! Best regards
I will suggest that after you are able to find away around how to differentiate mono-, bi- and multinucleated cells using the ImageJ, it is highly recommended that you similarly score your cells manually.
I read the paper posted by Mellissa Chernick on Automated Detection of Binucleated Cell and Micronuclei using...
the authors concluded as follow "In conclusion, the binucleated cells and micronuclei counting using CellProfiler were comparable but not better than manual counting".
This will help to avoid false positive and false negative results.
