I have a suspension of viruses (phages, specifically). How can I obtain a pellet of viruses? The point is that I need to wash the viruses and concentrate them like with bacteria. But I can't simply spin the viruses at 13,000 xg. What would be a better protocol?

For many phage (but I'm not sure about all) you can use PEG precipitation to harvest them. It may end up depending upon the phage but final concentration of PEG (PEG 6000 or PEG 8000 range) to 10% final concentration. For some phage you can use lower concentration but 10% seems effective for many phages. Chill on ice at least an hour (some leave overnight) and centrifuge.
