I am making methylcellulose films by soln casting method and drying at room temperature. But some of my films are having shrinkage having an uneven surfaces. what can be the possible reasons for that and how to overcome?
Drying drove moisture molecules to evaporate away from the associated material. The space left by the moisture molecules leads the associated material to shrink due to van der Waals interaction of the cellulose molecular chains. This problem might be overcome by clamping properly all edges of the cellulose film..
