I'm trying to determine the biaxial flexural behavior of ceramic plates using Abaqus, and have successfully simulated a Hertzian type indentation problem. In the post processing stage, I was able to obtain the contact forces for every increment in indentation depth. Corresponding to these increments, I would also like to obtain the contact radius, so that I can compare with the analytical solution. Could someone please guide me on how to go about this? I can send additional information and files if need be.
One solution would be to analyse the CPRESS field along the free surface where your indent hits the matter. This value will be zero when the contact is lost. However, if you want to be very precise, your mesh needs to be very fine. I did that way for Hertzian contact, and it worked very well.

Assuming that you work with the "*surface interaction, pressure-overclosure=HERTZ"-keyword, I would recommend to take the force calculate the radius reversely. You already have the force and the indentation. By the given equation in the Abaqus Analysis User's Guide 15.1.1. you can obtain the equivalent radius R', the contact radius follows by r = sqrt(d*R'). The contact behaves according to those equations, if this is already what you meant by analytical solution, I also see just the possibility with a very fine mesh.
