Dear colleagues,
I am currently preparing a manuscript, and need your suggestion to name some anatomic entities in an implanted femur. As shown in the attachment, I named these fracture surfaces (first and second here) as superior and inferior fracture surfaces in the manuscript, but I am not sure if the way I refer them are correct. Please let me know if there is a more appropriate term for each.

Can you give some more information on this? Is the first always superior to the medial and lateral supracondylar lines, or do they drift up to the linea aspera?
These are common landmarks that are easily understood.

I think you could name these surfaces proximal and distal surfaces respectively for the first and second.

Proximal distal may be the best terms.
However, depending on the application others may work equally well or better. Consider epiphyseal and diaphyseal, condylar and midsection/shaft.
For Distraction osteogenesis you would probably best use proximal and distal.
Before asking this question actually, I had the idea that proximal and distal fit best. However, my advisor suggested me different terms. So, after some helpful posts here I have decided to go with proximal and distal terms. I also agree that cranial/caudal are not suitable in this case. Thank you all again.
To be very precise you can name the first entity as: the inferior aspect (or surface) of the proximal portion (fragment if it is a fracture)
and for the second the opposite: the suprior aspect (or surface) of the distal portion
Superior and inferior would be very legitimate for Homo (not for quadripeds - See Nomina Anatomica Veterianria 2005 Edition). It is available on line, I believe. However, for quadripeds the terms proximal and distal are preferred. For Homo it would be applicable too as well (I would prefer too).
