Yes, shell element is better for shear wall.

Define area section as shell element and draw it.

I agree with Raghabendra that you can model it in SAP2000 using shell elements by defining area sections. Define the shell element thickness as the wall thickness then you draw it in-plane according to the length of the shear wall.

Also, I suggest using another CSI software package ETABS which is much easier to use in modelling shear wall buildings where you can define walls as piers.
