To simulate the tension-/compression-only options, a nonlinear iterative solution approach (Large deflection-->ON) is necessary.

Hi Andres Arce Campos The Following are the Element types available in Ansys to built a mode:

LINK1 – 2-D Spar (or Truss)

LINK1 can be used in a variety of engineering applications. Depending upon the application,  applied for truss models , a link, a spring, etc.

This element permits only uniaxial tension or compression  with two degrees of freedom at each node, Bending is ignored for this type , so mainly employed in solving truss problem ..

LINK8 – 3-D Spar (or Truss)

Employed for trusses , only axial stress allowed , no bending .This element can be used to model trusses, sagging cables, links, springs, etc.with three degrees of freedom at each node.Plasticity, creep, swelling, stress stiffening, and large deflection capabilities are included.

LINK10-Tension-only or Compression-only Spar

LINK10 has three degrees of freedom at each node. allows either compression only  or tension only.For  the tension-only option stiffness should be mentioned ,  if the stiffness is removed if the element goes into compression .(user should have a knowledge whether bar is undergoing tension or compression if not use Link1 or Link 8)

LINK11(Linear Actuator)

LINK11 may be used to model hydraulic cylinders and other applications undergoing large rotations. The element is a uniaxial tension-compression element with three degrees of freedom at each node.No bending or twist loads are considered.
