Dear researcher, I am conducting a research about the role of media in conflict management, although it seems clear and easy task.. but, I have encounter an instrument problem, as I try to use content analysis to deal with the issue of Darfur conflict in the Sudanese media, there is no archive or at least not enough to give significant results , so any suggestions please?

This may be a study that should look at the perceived role of the media. I did a similar study on the perceived influence of the media and used survey research, primarily Likert scaling.
I conur with Amy, since you will be dealing with perceptions, the likert scale will certainly give you rich data to complement your content analysis.
Years ago I found this book informative (but it's in French). Institut Panos,Journalisme et conflits dans la vallée du fleuve Sénégal, 1996. If you can read French I think I have some interesting pieces on the media in Côte d'Ivoire's conflict.

You may as well enrich your data by conducting a focus group discussion among media respondents who have written about the Darfur conflict and asked them their perceived roles and related questions.
Mohamed, I just remembered someone who could prove helpful - Gadi Wolfsfeld who wrote Media and Political Conflict. You might check out what he's doing.

I do hope this finds you in time for what you are asking in regards to media and conflict management. I recently took a class called Crisis Communication. If you can the book we were told to get was Effective Crisis Communication: Moving from Crisis to Opportunity. by Robert R. Ulmer, Timothy L. Sellnow, and Matthew W. Seeger. In this book contains a wealth of information that may help you. For example, in reference to media: STARCC (1) simple messages are important during a crisis/conflict when people may have difficulty processing information (2) Timely messages are critical during a crisis (3) Accuracy requires straightforward direct messages (4) Relevant messages address the most immediate concerns (5) Credibility builds trust that is essential to effective crisis communication (6) Consistency is the hallmark of effective crisis communication. (Seeger, Sellnow & Ulmer, 2015, pg. 149). I think this might help you or suggest to you a perspective on how to address the media. Good luck!

We tried to used educational games to teach conflict management.
In our study, the effectiveness of Role Play was compared against that of an educational computer-based game (ECBG). These two methods were applied in the conflict resolution (CR) part of a business communication course in a Singaporean university.
