Deuterium plasma is created in a penning discharge where both electric and magnetic field are present in the plasma region. Please suggest any method by which electron density can be estimated by measuring optical emission lines of deuterium.
Correct me if I am wrong, but usually optical emission lines would have information about excited population levels of atoms/ions in the plasma, not necessarily about electrons population.
: the referred article probably measures atom/ion species concentrations; I am not aware of a spectroscopic method that would give you electron densities, as he would like.
