I would think you would get best results using the the octahydrate sulphate form the idea being that mine issues are often associated with excess sulfur in acid environment. The octahydrate provides the perfect condition in that is very soluble to provide a stable solution.

Anhidrous , monohydrate and octahydrate cadmium sulphate have almost the same solubility. I don't think there would be a great difference...
