As far as I know, before performing a biodegradation study of a compound, it is necessary to acclimatize the bacterial culture to that compound (especially if the compound is recalcitrant). Then bacterial growth is monitored by measuring cfu periodically. n numbers of subculturing are done until the growth curve or better say the lag phase time period is approximately same for the (n-1)th and the nth subcultures. Are there other criteria to ensure whether a bacterial culture is acclimatized to a compound? Please reply me your views.
