Hello,
I am working with primary human fibroblasts and want to apply a rather unspecific cellular stress to provoke defects of the actin cytoskeletton derived from patient's mutations.
Serum depriviation does not make sense, since fibroblasts can be cultured without serum.
Any suggestions?

First thing that comes to mind is increased or decreased temperature. Second is change in osmolarity of the media..
Thanks for the input! I was thinking about hypoxia as another possibility.
Though, of course, atmospheric oxygen levels are the far above normal levels for cells in-vivo. For that reason, oxygen levels in the range of 2-5%, which are standard "hypoxic" conditions, might actually reduce stress.
A pH change, produced by altering the incubator's CO2 levels, might be an easier option.
