How to increase pH for a solution without making a chemical reaction with CaCl2:
I am working on MICP project. the one of the chemical inputs is CaCl2 and i want to increase the pH to 9 at least to be sure that the bacteria is working easily without any restrictions
But once i use NaOH or other chemicals that increases pH it immediately reacts with CaCl2 and this prevents bacteria from doing its supposed work and leads to experiment failure.
Is there any chemical compound that increases pH without reacting with CaCl2?
It is not necessary to increase the pH at all. If you add cementation solution includes urea and calcium chloride to bacteria on a beaker and measure the variation of pH, you can see calcium carbonate is precipitating on even pH 6.5.
