Supplemental rations are increasing in cost in livestock production in Trinidad and Tobago. Ruminants at day old to 8 weeks require high energy and protein plant based rations. The economic environment of the country is in a serious state and as a result farmers must use limited supplemental rations for their calves and milking herd. Calves are the most critical group in meeting dietary requirements. Therefore, how can the diet of 2 to 4 month old calves for calves be improved to withstand the conditions of restricted supplemental rations?
