Follow the traditional methods in seed setting. Once the seeds start sprouting you spread them in pots or seed bed. Layover with a thin layer of sand. Allow them to grow to stage when you plan to transplant them into the field. If you need to go for small scale experiments in controlled environment you can go ahead with planting the seedlings in the pots and inoculating the bacterial, fungal or viral inoculum of your interest. Before doing so you need to apply the surface of the leaves with an abrasive which is normally carborundum. Wipe it of and apply the inoculum with an applicator . Keep wearing lab coat, gloves and mask. Right size of inoculum is very important.
