is it possible to generate anaerobic conditions for growing bacteria without buying those ready-made bags sold by, for instance, ThermoFisher? That is, instead of buying the bags can I use the individual reagents (chances are that they are already in the store...).

you can use liquid paraffin to cover the surface of the cultured medium to generate an anaerobic condition; not perfect but the easiest way.
hi, I am using paraffin already -- sorry I forgot to mention that I need the anaerobic conditions for the agar plates, that is for solid media...

I usually use an anaerobic jar with gas packs for keeping agar plates under anaerobic conditions. If you don't have anaerobic pouches, but a sealable jar, I think you can keep your plates inside the jar, then light a candle in the jar and close the lid. The candle will dye out with time due to a lack of oxygen creating anaerobic conditions. But I am not sure whether it will perfectly work. But you can try.

As Sandhye said for your situation candle-jar is the best solution (like the uploaded photo) but still for solid media like agar plates you can use a thin layer of sterilized liquid paraffin or glycerol on top of ur culture media to generate an anaerobic condition.
