Hi all. I'm having trouble to fix unstable/fluctuate pressure of ion chromatography (Metrohm 882). I have change the piston seal and do purging (5 ml/min), however the pressure still fluctuated. I need your suggestion. Thanks!!
There may be something trapped in one of the check valves on one pump. You may need to rebuild/replace the check valves. Also make sure the pump head is purged of air (do this first since it is simple, free, and the most likely problem). Make sure your solvents are degassed (again, do this before rebuilding/replacing anything).
clean the injection valve with 20% methanol in an ultrasonic bath for 10 minutes.
Inline filters (6.2821.130) must be replaced. The same applies for the coupling 6.2744.180. Caution! The filter must not be damaged during insertion. also the filter and frit (6.1011.130) built into the guard column should be replaced.
Check with your Metrohm service person for exchange of the check valves.
