I am doing modelling work of piezoelectric sensors bonded on the surface of the host structure. I have been doing this work in ANSYS APDL. I made three geometries for PZT patch, adhesive layer & host structure & using boolean operator, I glued them all. But the moment I mesh the host structure (bottom one), this error appears & consequentially, I am unable to proceed ahead. Please help me out. Any help would be appreciated.
Hex. (brick) meshing is preferrable.
Mapped mesh in 3D requires that the volume is formed by 6 surfaces
Thank you sir for reply. I completely agree with you. Bottom volume has been formed by 6 surfaces. But why I'm getting this error?
Maybe the volumes are glued into one single volume.
If you list the volumes, how many volumes in the model?
Sir, I've taken 3 volumes (PZT patch-1, adhesive layer-2 & concrete block-3)
I glued 1&2 and 2-3 separately.
Process was to make these volumes first & after making all geometry, I glued them as mentioned above.
Please correct me, sir, if I am wrong. It would be better if you tell me the procedure so that I can confirm that process which I am using is not doubtful.
Even when I do volume sweeping, Ansys says "Bottom volume is not available for sweeping as source & target can not be determined automatically". Please help
Hey I am facing the same problems I am also modeling peizoelectic material circular fibre inside and cubic matrix outside and while meshing using 8 noded brick elements getting the same error for cubical meshing. Can you please tell you how to remove this error I am stuck
Divide the base volume into small volumes exactly as the adhesives. Either glue them before meshing. I have added some illustrative lines in your figure so that you can understand it better.
