we have a set of points in a binodal construction. we need to fit them in to an equation (polynomial or ode) such that the equation represents the overall structure of the binodal data

The answer based on your model.
Fitting curves are used to generate the required curve.
It doesn't matter the shape of the curve, just show the data, and easily one can generate the required curve.
If you have a large data, then you can use some well-known packages like Maple, Mathematica, or Matlab.
