I am particularly interested in reading about or at the very least knowing the material for the currently most efficient quantum dot based solar cell from NREL.
I have searched their website, but I am still having trouble.

My advise is to search for review papers about the quantum dot solar cells. Sure you will find in them citations to NREL quantum dots solar cells.

You can directly writing to NREL asking them for the recent papers on their quantum dots solar cells.

I am working on QD solar cells.
The most recent published paper with PCE 11.3% is from Sargent group (Nature Materials 16, 258–263 (2017) doi:10.1038/nmat4800). However the best 13.4% of this QD SC is different materials from that Sargent's QD. As you read in his papers are about PbS QD, while the best record 13.4% (from NREL) is Perovskite QD materials. I guess it is from Luther's group since he published perovskite QD in science last year. I thik that paper (13.4%) are under submission and will publish soon.
