The general procedure presented by Manohar is ok (if your CHN test results are in mass-%), although it shows the ratio of C/N. But you should be careful with rounding the element numbers as strongly as in the example III (H=2.87 is rounded to H=2), since this might have a strong influence on your results: actual H/C ratio in sample III is 0.412, but with the rounded values it is 0.286.
