Yes, Oven drying method can be used. Following three ways to drying soil sample

1. Three days air-drying at 37 °C,

2. 24 hours’ oven-drying at 50 °C, and

3. 24 hours’ oven-drying at 110 °C

Many commercial laboratories dry their soil at 40 C in a forced air dryer for about 24 hours.

40 degrees C is the international standard. The airflow needs to be properly designed by an engineer and the soils must be distributed in a thin layer to dry in 24 h.

The alternative is to analyse as is and adjust for the moisture content post analysis. However that may cause representative sampling problems that require large subsamples, which becomes a handling issue in the lab with container sizes and reagent volumes
