Recently I started to measure bioplastics in sewage sludge using TG-FTIR from PerkinElmer. One measurment of pure PLA turned out pretty good with nice peaks. All of the others had quite a lot intenference and i´m trying to find out if it is possible to use this data. Do you know some method I could use to evaluate these data or do I need to do all the measurments again, maybe with different parameters?

Paramets were: TG: 35-600 °C with 10 °C/min
FTIR: 600 - 4000 cm-1; resolution: 4cm-1; accumulation 10 scans.
Good day! the peak at 2200-2300 is attributed to the CO2 vibration. I think that you can take the carbonyl group of ester as a reference at approximately 1730 cm-1 in order to estimate concentration of PLA. PLA was decomposed in the temperature range 300–372°C, whereas the thermal degradation temperature of biomass is 183–462°C. So you need to collect the FTIR data 300–372°C where the intensity will be maximum. it is a sophisticated task as products f PLA degradation might interact with product of the sludge. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1004954109600185 I did bioremediation of water and used HPLC analysis for phenol derivative evaluation.
