The implementation of a cell phone application aimed at connecting citizens and reward-based waste picker associations is not enough to make collection logistics possible for these collectors. Depending on the savings obtained in reducing the volume of garbage collected by municipal public cleaning, the development of this system could make this program viable.
MSW generation per capita is estimated by dividing MSW generation of a certain area by that area's population. Divide the amount of waste diverted by the total amount of waste, then multiply by 100 to get the percentage. Researchers can be used different techniques for data collection such as: field observations, sorting and weighing on site, truckload records, and surveys.
1. add up the total weight of each category of waste generated by the event.
2. add all of the categories together to determine the total amount of waste generated by the event.
3. add together just the first three categories (recycling, compost, and donations). This number is the total amount of waste diverted.
4. Divide the amount of waste diverted by the total amount of waste.
