We couldn't find allometric equations for cherry or apple (e.g. in globallometree.org), presumably because of the effect of pruning preventing their use.
Alternatively, we have lidar-derived canopy volumes and heights, that could potentially be used.

It might be good thing to develope the methodology to do that.
Take lidar and 3D imagery by RGB drone in an orchard that is about to be cut. Then, measure biomass of different tissues and create a model. This could be realy helpful for research and agriculture.
Thanks, Oren, for your idea, but I am not quite sure I understand your approach. Do you mean measuring canopy volume before and after pruning, and relate the difference to the mass of the pruned branches?
I am skeptical that this relation could be extrapolated to the core areas of the trees, where biomass densities are higher. Moreover, in my case I am looking for something non-destructive. I had hoped there would have been some approaches out there, but couldn't find anything so far.
