I am trying to find Onset Potential for LSV curve of oxygen reduction. For that we need to draw a tangent on LSV curve. So, i want to know that how do we draw tangent on LSV curve in origin?
I want to draw the tangent similar to this picture;
The method shown in the plot with the value of 179 mV as the onset potential agrees with that used by most authors.
However, the so called "onset potential" (or "current onset potential" or COP) is not a strictly defined concept and should be avoided in reporting research findings, if possible. This is because by simply expanding the current scale, the COP shifts positively in the above plot, i.e. it is not a constant.
What you have to draw îs not a tangent, but an extension of the linear part of the LSV record.
