hi, i want to ask how i can download or collect bibliographic data from academic search engines like DBLP, citeSeer, etc. Like if i want to download all publications (conference or journals) for a particular author, or particular institute or articles published in a particular journal for a particular year, thanks.
Kims - most databases are similar in nature - but they don'y all have the same search page layout etc - so it's difficult to offer an exact strategy unless you just ask for one database example. The main thing is that most databases have 'limiters' and 'expanders'. Most use 'limiters' to narrow down the the topic field. The most common are 'English-language-only', full-text/abstract-only and year range. However, you can also narrow down by a range of whole other limiters for many databases. Certainly - 'by author' is a common one. Specific journals are another - and accompanying that - can be by topic/discipline. Institutions are not usually a common one because they and the people in them change rapidly - whereas the author themselves doesn't. Their work is attributed to them wherever they work.
If your goal is to produce bibliographies and references, this is usually a two-step process. First, the online database will allow you to download into any of a series of different formats. Second, that output can be read by software packages such as Zotero or Endnote, which will then format your references for you.
