dear colleagues, i want to ask if there is any one who can suggest me some paper or book where i can read about challenges or future work directions of opinion mining? I am really interested in reading about cultural aspects of it. Thanks
Opinions are central to all human activities and are key influencers of our behavior. opinions concept such as sentiments, evaluations, attitudes and emotions are subject of study in opinion mining. Although linguistic have a long history, little research had been done about people’s opinion. Through opinion mining we compare opinions across culture i.e. comparing opinions of people from different countries on the same issue or topic, e.g., Internet diplomacy.
I recommend you the book of Pang and Lee related with opinion mining and sentiment analysis, since it is a recent and complete review. The second paper attached represents an application tool for extracting opinions from texts. Both are free resources.
Conference Paper SentiWordNet: A Publicly Available Lexical Resource for Opinion Mining
First would be to clarify what you understand under "Cultural Aspects" want? If you everything under the headline ask: That the mining and the preparation of the mined minerals was the basis of the industrial revolution in Europe and they have promoted in such a gigantic degree the lives of people, prosperity, progress up to the feelings and actions of people over has influenced generations, the extent your question is clear.
Of course, one can find many cultural aspects. First, some general:
- Impact on the visual arts
- Impact on the industrial culture
- Impact on the cultural landscape and landscaping (post mining landscape)
- Socio-cultural aspects and environmental design and -legislation etc.
I like not go into details, but to answer your desire for literature like that. Your research site seems to be La Rochelle / France. If you should come once to Germany, then a visit to the German Mining Museum in Bochum (North Rhine-Westphalia) is a "must do".
But also the Industrial Museum in Chemnitz (Saxony) is of great interest. Meanwhile, the address and website here, where you can find a lot of literature: http://www.bergbaumuseum.de/index.php/de/
Opinion Mining is a new discipline derived from the fusion of two disciplines, Linguistics and Computer Science.
It seems very relevant document describing the methodology and usefulness of a computer tool called SentiWordNet.
Accessible to both experts and connoisseurs of this emerging new field of research.
Prior to an analysis of the content of a document of interest, for example in a conference or lecture or position on a particular issue, manually identifying the words, phrases or key sentences and then were located along the text, were made tables with separate content and Nouns, Verbs, Adverbs, Adjectives, etc. and finally counted with elementary-level statistical Mode, Medium, Frequency, Percentage and analysis with Nonparametric Statistics appropriate to the type of variable, either Nominal, Categorical, or Stratified in Degrees.
The SentiWordNet software and automatically does what before was done semi-automatically or manually. You can do categorically define 3 categories: Objective, Positive, Negative and relating each category with the key terms: Nouns, Verbs, Adverbs, Adjectives.
I said that, I omit not to mention that it is essential to have a Plan or a Research Protocol, adequately define Research Do You Ask? and the Assumption, Hypothesis, Purpose or Objective.
With this, in the first stage of its documentary review, will make a general scrutiny of literature or topic that interests you, in your specific case What Aspect of Culture is Interested in Researching?
Thanks for all answers. I have read the book by Pang Lee and I also read interviews by him. I have read in literature that exploiting cultural issues of opinion mining (in texts) is future of opinion mining. I wanted to know about any recommended articles for this i.e. if there is any group which is already working on this topic. Cultural aspects means like usage of some words may be positive in a culture while in other culture it may be negative .. I hope its clear
