But we don't understand how to implement the moving mesh to see the engraving effect.

Let's clarify our idea. We want to perform the simulation of the laser engraving of a metal. So we illuminate the metal in our simulation and then we engrave the material. We must then modify the mesh. How to do ?

We try to implement the example proposed by Comsol : Modeling Thermal Ablation for Material Removal, due to our experience in the version 42a.

In the case of 1D, it works, and we obtain the same results as in the blog.
We try in the case of 2D axis symetric, but we have problem of convergence, for example inversed mesh. The consequence is the apparition of corrugation on the surface, and not apparition of ablation. What are the parameter of the solver to obtain convergence ?

Maybe you can do adaptive remeshing. This feature is available in comsol.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, also by email. We found some solutions in our version 4.2b, to do moving mesh. It works but the parameters needs to be good chosen.
