I have problem with determining a liquid is DINP or Paraffin. Because tank of liquid we use to produce flexible PVC compound have no label and result in haze liquid migration definitely out surface of PVC particles after 3 week stored in warehouse. Firstly we guess that having a mistake of material we use as a plasticizer in formulation. What method analysis should I employ to determine this liquid.

Perform an FTIR analysis and look at the carbonyl band about 1680 cm-1, if it is there it is an ester, if not it is another, ester-free compound
In addition to what professor Gerhard Behrendt suggested correctly, I have an easier way to distinguish between the two liquids. Diisononyl phthalate has a higher density than distilled water whereas paraffin has a density of about 0.8 g/cm3. Both of them are immiscible with water and this allows for fast identification.
