Dead artemia doesn't move and there is a thin layor of oil in the surface of the water, where dead artemia is.

If feed is given to artemia, the speed of movement is much more faster than when not fed. If the animal doesn't move, then it is dead. 

thaks all for the reply. Is that easy? i read in a paper that sometimes you can find false movement and therefore is better to use a dead/live stain.

For your information, Artemia are strongly phototactic, thus a concentrated light can be used to swarm the organisms in one place.
